Cheerleading Round-Table Planning Meeting Is Scheduled!

I just wanted to go ahead and update everyone about the Cheerleading Planning Meeting for the 2010 Spring Season. We will meet on Sat., December 5 at 2:00 pm at Nansemond River to plan out and discuss the Cheerleading Orientation, first practice, etc. If you are interested in attending, please call or email Lizzy McClelland at (757) 484-3423 or lmcclelland@nansemondriver.org.

Cheerleading Round-Table Planning Meeting

For those interested in Coaching for our 2010 Spring Cheerleading Season, there is a "round-table" planning meeting planned for the beginning of December. We will plan and talk about orientation, first practice, ETC. Please stay tuned for more information on the Cheerleading round table meeting.

(NOTE to parents: Flag Football & Cheerleading will be our Spring Sports for 2010. Evaluations will be held the beginning of February. For those interested in Coaching, the mandatory trainings will be held mid-January. League Calendar & important dates to follow)

Makeup games will follow scheduled games on Saturday, November 7 (from rain out on 10/17).

11:00 am: Cobb's Team v. Gators

The makeup games from last Saturday's washout will be held following regular scheduled games on Sat., November 7th. The makeup game schedule for the 7th will be posted on Monday morning.

Mark Your Calendar --- Awards Celebration Information

Parents,
Don't forget to mark your calendar for our Upward Awards Celebration on Sun., November 15 at 4:30 pm in the Nansemond River Baptist Church Worship Center. Doors will open at 4:15 pm.

Please join us as we conclude our season with an upbeat Celebration!

Awards Special Guest: Dan the Animal Man (& furry friends)

Family & Friends are invited to attend.

Join us for a slideshow presentation, special guest, presentation of teams, and a new award that will be given out for "Christlikeness".

Regular Weekly Practices

Parents & Coaches,
The soccer fields may be really wet this week, but since the rain has settled, we will continue on with our nightly practices. If any odd weather does come up, your Coach will make the call about practices and whether they are or aren't having practices.

Carnival Day will now be held on the last day of games on Sat., November 14th.

More information coming on make-up games. (but they will definately NOT be this Saturday)

GAMES CANCELLED!

Due to weather & field conditions, Upward Soccer Games & Carnival Day have been cancelled on Saturday, October 17 and WILL BE re-scheduled. Carnival Day will now be held on Sat., November 14 (last day of games). More information will be posted on makeup games by the end of the day!

Saturday 10/17

Hello all,
I know everyone is waiting to hear about tomorrow's games - it's looking pretty nasty, but we ARE waiting to look at the forecast and field conditions first thing in the morning. Look here early (around 8 ish) for updates.

RAIN PLAN

Coaches & Parents,
If the rain keeps up at this pace, we will cancel Thursday night practices.

Also, please check for rain updates and game cancellations for Saturday.

We will have the voicemail and website notification up by 8:00 am if games are cancelled due to rain/poor field conditions.

Carnival Day WILL BE re-scheduled to Sat., November 14 (as well as your missed games) if Saturday's weather conditions are poor.

I had to share these two picture with everyone involved in Upward and even those who haven't been involved. They are my favorites. It shows everything we hope to teach all of the children involved... teamwork, helping each other, picking up others when they fall down ... I hope they encourage you today!

NRBC Recreation Going Green

As announced in the Weekly Parent Connector, we are trying something new to help save parents money on sports pictures. We will give out a cd of pictures of your child and their team at the Awards Celebration on Sun., November 15th.

Just a quick reminder that Upward's "Carnival Day" is this Sat., October 17 during games. We will have free funnel cakes, carnival style games, popcorn & face painting for all ages. Please bring your friends and family to enjoy the soccer games, as well as funnel cakes & popcorn! See you there.
